John Browning US Patent 345882 #1

On July 20th, 1886 John Browning was granted US Patent 345882.
He had applied for this patent on May 3rd, 1886. The design was for a Magazine Firearm, more specifically this patent was of a shotgun with a hammer firing mechanism.

Winchester purchased the rights to this Patent, but never manufactured this pump action shotgun design. The Patent Drawings below are absolutely beautiful.

John Browning Patent 336287 – Winchester Model 1887 & Model 1901

John Browning Winchester Model 1887/1901 US Patent 336287 #1

On June 15th, 1885 John Moses Browning applied for the patent on this design.
It was approved on February 16th, 1886 and granted US Patent 336287.

The design became the Winchester Model 1887 lever action repeating shotgun available in 12 gauge. The Model 1887 was the first fully functioning repeating shotgun and it’s design would be the foundation to the Winchester Model 1901, a 10 gauge.

The historical importance of this design is the fact that it was the first successful repeating shotgun.

It was approved on August 11, 1885 and granted US Patent 324297.

This design was also purchased by Winchester but again did not get manufactured. The design was a lever action chambered in .45 caliber.

It was approved on August 11th, 1885 as US Patent 324296. This patent design was another of his lever action rifle designs.

Winchester purchased this design by John Browning but never manufactured it.

This patent covers:
1. The locking bolt providing dead lock for the bolt.
2. Improved ejector
3. Construction of the Carrier

On May 26th, 1884 John Browning applied for this patent.
It was later that same year on October 14th, 1884 that he was granted US Patent 306577.

This US Patent became the famous lever action repeater rifle, Winchester Model 1886. The design would also become the Winchester Model 71.
Most of these early patents by Browning were purchased by Winchester.

John Browning Winchester Model 1885 US Patent 220271

John Browning applied for this US Patent on May 19, 1879 and was granted patent 220271 on October 7, 1879.  This was John Browning’s first patent.

This patent became the Winchester Model 1885 single-shot rifle.  It was a falling block single shot rifle and known as the High Wall and Low Wall.
