Smith & Wesson Governor vs Bodyguard 38 Revolver

| Comparisons, Product Info | January 24, 2013

Smith & Wesson Governor vs Bodyguard 38 Revolver Size Comparison

The Smith & Wesson Governor vs Bodyguard 38 revolver size comparison image was created with the triggers aligned. The two revolvers are both great firearms, but serve different purposes.

The Governor is a very good defense option, but it’s size is not exactly what we would call ideal for concealed carry. If you are looking for a concealed carry option, well Smith & Wesson designed the Bodyguard for that exact purpose.

Smith Wesson Governor vs Bodyguard 38 and 380 Size Comparison

The Smith & Wesson Governor Revolver vs S&W Bodyguard 38 Revolver vs SW Bodyguard 380 Pistol size comparison image overlay is rendered with the triggers aligned.

This size comparison is one where we knew the size difference between the three was going to be so obvious that it might be a waste of time posting it. However, we figured if it helped just one person we might as well post it. Hopefully you find this beneficial if you are in the market for one of these firearms.

Utah Makes The 1911 First Official State Firearm

| History | January 21, 2013

With HB 219 Utah designates the John Browning designed 1911 pistol as the State Firearm, making it the first official State Firearm ever!

The Bill is specifically worded to honor the “John M. Browning Designed m1911”. Designating the 1911 as the State Firearm not only honors one of the greatest firearm designs in history, but also gives recognition to the historical importance of the late great John Browning who was a resident of Utah.

During the process of approving this bill I kept hearing people say there are more important issues to discuss, like creating jobs. For those people I would simply ask them to research the number of jobs that John Browning created and still creates for the State of Utah. Today, almost 100 years after his death, John Browning has a positive economic impact on the State of Utah.

LeMat Revolver a True O.G. (Original Gun)

| History | January 21, 2013

LeMat Shot Shell Revolver

The LeMat revolver is the Original Gun of the shot shell revolver market niche. Jean LeMat earned the O.G. rating by predating the Taurus Judge and Smith & Wesson Governor by more than 100 years! To be completely fair and balanced this design was not identical to the Judge or Governor as it was a standard revolver with a secondary option of a 16 gauge shell. However, this design is the earliest model that we could find that integrated a shot shell into the handgun design.

| Comparisons, Product Info | January 21, 2013

S&W Governor vs Taurus Judge Comparison Triggers Aligned

The S&W Governor vs Taurus Judge revolver size comparison images are rendered in three different alignments; grips aligned, triggers aligned, and muzzles aligned. The comparison is specifically between the Smith & Wesson Governor model number 162410 and the Taurus Public Defender Judge model number 4510PD-3B.

One of the major differences between the two is that the Taurus Public Defender Judge has a 5 round capacity where the Smith & Wesson Governor is able to accept an additional round with it’s 6 round capacity cylinder.

Colt 1911 100th Anniversary – Designed by John Browning

| History, John Browning | January 12, 2013

Colt m1911 Pistol by John Browning

The centennial celebration for the 1911 pistol’s 100th birthday recognizes one of the most important firearm designs of all time and the genius of it’s creator John Browning. The m1911 was granted US Patent 984519 on February 14th, 1911 “Valentine’s Day”. This link between Valentine’s Day and the 1911 is ironic since it’s responsible for possibly the greatest firearm love affair. A lot of people say that no gun collection is complete without at least one 1911.

Rail Mounted Door Buster Shotgun for AR-15

| History | January 12, 2013

AR SBS Door Buster

Some of you might have seen the Sons of Guns episode where Red Jacket Firearms created or invented the first rail mounted door buster shotgun that could be mounted on an AR-15. Red Jacket does make some amazing stuff and a friend of mine has had a few builds done by them. However, in this particular case there is plenty of evidence that you shouldn’t believe everything you see on TV. Hopefully that concept does not come as a surprise to you… Otherwise you might believe in the insanity of gun control. I am fighting myself not to go off on a tangent about how absurd gun control is.

Ruger LC9 vs Sig P290 vs Kimber Solo 9mm Pistol Comparison

| Comparisons, Product Info | January 12, 2013

Ruger LC9 vs Sig P290 vs Kimber Solo 9mm Pistol Size Comparison

Our Ruger LC9 vs Sig P290 vs Kimber Solo 9mm pistol size comparison image is rendered with the three guns backed up to the y axis and dropped down onto the x axis to best compare the height and length of these 9mm pistols. This image was the very first size comparison image we created.

As the micro-9 pistols started to roll out on the coat tails of the extremely popular .380 ACP pocket pistol market these were the three top dogs.

The big question became, which is better?
Well isn’t that the million dollar question and unfortunately the best answer is, “it depends.”
If price is a big deciding factor, then you want the Ruger LC9.
If you are a huge 1911 fan, then the Kimber Solo is for you.
If you are a sucker “like me” for a bull barrel, then maybe the Sig P290 is your choice.

Ruger LCP vs Ruger LC9 Pistol Comparison

| Comparisons, Product Info | January 12, 2013

Ruger LCP vs Ruger LC9 Pistol Size Comparison

The Ruger LCP vs Ruger LC9 size comparison image is rendered with the far left and very bottom of the pistols lined up. Regardless of how we lined up this image overlay the size difference in VERY noticeable.

This noticeable size difference really surprised many people including myself. To clarify, the surprise was based on our assumption of what the LC9 would look like (SMALL) when news started coming out that Ruger was designing a micro-9 pistol to join their LCP in the compact concealed carry category. The issue was that the LC9 was much bigger and cumbersome than most people expected.

You will quickly see that not only do the LCP and P3AT have a very similar appearance, but their dimensions are nearly identical. The Taurus TCP is slightly larger than the Ruger and Kel-Tec models, but very slightly.

Ruger LCR vs Smith & Wesson Bodyguard Revolver Comparison

| Comparisons, Product Info | January 12, 2013

The Ruger LCR vs Smith & Wesson Bodyguard revolver size comparison image is rendered with the triggers aligned together. Based on the image you will notice they are very similar in size with the Ruger LCR being just 1/10th of an inch shorter in length.

The most distinguishable difference between the LCR and Bodyguard is the grip. The Bodyguard’s grip is much smaller than Ruger’s LCR grip. However, Ruger has offered the LCR with smaller boot grips. It is best that you check out their website for the most current model offerings and grip options.

Sig P290 vs Sig P238 Pistol Comparison

| Comparisons, Product Info | January 12, 2013

Sig P290 vs Sig P238 Size Comparison

The Sig P290 vs Sig P238 is a Sig on Sig comparison between the .380 ACP and 9mm pistol options.

The Sig Sauer P290 9mm pistol is part of the micro 9 concealed carry movement and the Sig Sauer P238 .380 ACP pistol is part of the original pocket pistol movement. I am not sure if the pressure of people wanting a more powerful round or the fact that .380 ACP was nearly impossible to get during the pocket pistol explosion drove companies into the micro 9 market. Regardless of the motives we are sure glad they are showing up.
