Kel-Tec PF9 vs Sig P290 vs Ruger LC9 vs Kimber Solo Comparison

Need help deciding which Micro 9 pistol to buy? This 9mm concealed carry pistol comparison will help you out.
Earlier we did a quick review of the micro 9mm pistols, but did not include the Kel-Tec PF9. Since then quite a few people requested that it be included. We reworked the comparison, now the Kel Tec PF9, Sig Sauer P290, Ruger LC9 and Kimber Solo each have their own comparison image.
The PF9 vs P290 vs LC9 vs Solo 9mm concealed carry pistol size comparison image is rendered with the back and bottom of the pistols lined up to the x and y axis.
In our humble opinion, not a single one of these firearms are designed to be a pocket pistol. A lot of people are quickly jumping at the idea of a 9mm over a .380 ACP and we can see why, but if your plans are to carry one of these nines in your pocket you may want to think again.

Ruger Super Redhawk Alaskan vs Smith & Wesson Governor Comparison

The Ruger Super Redhawk Alaskan vs Smith & Wesson Governor revolver size comparison image is rendered with the forward portion of the trigger guard and the base of the actual triggers aligned.
For quite awhile we had a desire to create an image comparison of the Ruger Alaskan with other revolvers. So for the first comparison we put the Ruger Alaskan with the Smith & Wesson Governor.
Even though the Ruger Alaskan comes in noticeably shorter than the S&W Governor, it weighs quite a bit more. To be exact it weights 15.4 ounces more, which is just over 50% of the Governor’s total weight of 29.6 ounces.
Remember, the Alaskan is capable of dropping a Grizzly Bear so the comfort it affords you in bear country more than makes up for any discomfort created by it’s extra weight. On top of that the extra weight helps to steady the recoil of the Alaskan.

The two pistols are very similar in terms of specifications. The main differernce comes when you look very closely and notice that the Diamondback pushes it’s trigger and mag well further back allowing for a slightly longer barrel length.
We have been impressed with the Diamondback Firearms DB380 and it’s ability to gain traction in the pocket pistol market. We expect to see continued growth now that they have teamed up with Taurus.

S&W Bodyguard 380 vs Taurus TCP Pocket Pistol Comparison

The S&W Bodyguard 380 vs Taurus TCP .380 ACP pocket pistol size comparison image is rendered with the triggers aligned. These two are nearly identical especially when you take into account the space that the Bodyguard’s laser takes up.
The overall length of the two is exactly 5.25 inches each and a capacity of 6+1. The weight difference is only an additional 1.65 ounces on the Bodyguard 380 and that is probably what the laser weighs.
From this information it would be safe to say that if the TCP had a laser, these two .380 ACP pocket pistols would possibly have identicle specifications.

S&W Bodyguard 380 vs Kahr P380 Pistol Comparison

The S&W Bodyguard 380 vs Kahr P380 pistol size comparison image is rendered with the triggers aligned. Both of these .380 ACP Pocket Pistols are great firearms. They are easily concealed and high quality guns.
For a lot of us price plays a big part in our purchase decisions, especially when both firearms are good quality. It’s not as if one of these is significantly better or worse than the other. With that in mind there is a good chance that you will purchase the Smith & Wesson Bodyguard. However, if price is not a major factor for you then we recommend you get to your shop and see how the two pistols feel in your hand.
We have mentioned before that our love of the customer service and warranty through S&W makes us a bit biased, but it’s hard to go wrong with either pistol here.

The Smith & Wesson Bodyguard 380 vs 38 size comparison image is rendered with the triggers aligned. The Bodyguard line of firearms through Smith & Wesson was created with a specific focus on concealed carry.
